Abstract

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a heterogeneous group of recurring or chronic long-term inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal (GI) system. The two main types of IBD are known as Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC). In this study, we used GENEVESTIGATOR® tools to identify genes specifically regulated in CD and UC compared to over 3,000 other experimental conditions and diseases. We selected the most specific hits and characterized their regulation across diseases and tissues. With our analysis, we confirmed existing associations but also discovered novel genes previously uncharacterized and specifically regulated in response to IBD. (Download PDF)
